About the author
I am a medical doctor specializing in epidemiology. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the world of insects. In the 1980s, I actively collected specimens by capturing, killing, identifying and preserving them. To this day, I still have three display cases of my collection, which are well-preserved and look fantastic. When I decided to study medicine, however, I had to set this hobby aside—although the fascination never disappeared. I continued to enjoy nature documentaries and to observe the microcosmos in the garden of my family’s country house and in other natural settings. In 2020, I acquired my first macrophotography equipment and transformed this long‑standing interest into a new and rewarding hobby.
